Brown Banded Cockroach

Brown-Banded Cockroaches are one of the smallest cockroaches known to man. Able to fly and needing less humidity to thrive than larger counterparts, this species of cockroach can be found inhabiting a wider variety of environments.

Appearance

  • Adults are 10–14 mm long
  • Light tan stripes across the abdomen

Habits

  • Don't require same moisture resources at the German cockroaches,
  • Commonly found in furniture or on the walls and ceilings
  • Not as commonly found in kitchen and bathrooms as compared to German cockroaches, but can be found near refrigerator motors and other major appliances.
  • Rarely seen during the day and the adult male may fly.

Life Cycle

  • Females produce up to 13 oothecae (egg case), each containing 16 individual eggs
  • Nymphs take 55 days to develop into adults
  • In ideal temperature conditions (30°c), adults live 90–115 days
